The Tri-State Business Institute is located in Erie, Pennsylvania. The school offers accredited programs in Cosmetology Operator, Salon Management, and Barbering, and in the field of Therapeutic Massage.

The Cosmetology Operator program prepares students to become trainers in the field of cosmetology. Students will learn the theory and techniques behind shampooing, hair and scalp treatment, hair-cutting, chemical hair restoring, and hair styling, shaping, and manicuring. They will also learn teaching methods and techniques, professional practices, and salon management and they will learn how to prepare lesson plans, course outlines, classroom presentations and demonstrations, and review evaluation methods and they will learn the rules and regulations of the Pennsylvania Board of Cosmetology.

Students of the Salon Management will learn all aspects of cosmetology, including theory, techniques, and teaching methods and specifics on the Pivot Point philosophy of hair sculpture and design, color and perming, as well as nail care and skin care. There is also an emphasis placed on communication and human relations that includes courses in psychology, public speaking, and computer usage and these courses will includes skills-based instruction for client-therapist relations, promotional techniques, business practices, and communication with clients. Once finished the program, students will be fully prepared for salon management.

For those wishing to enter into a career in Barbering, the Barbering program at the Tri-State Business Institute teaches students hair cutting, stropping and shaving techniques, sanitation and sterilization techniques, honing, facials and scalp treatments, hair coloring and perming, and how to care for their tools. All course work is taught by professional instructors who have had real-world experience.

The Therapeutic Massage program offers students the theory and techniques behind Swedish Massage, Chair Massage, Deep Tissue Work, Athletic/Sports massage, Pregnancy Massage, Geriatric Massage, Massage for the Critically Ill, Kinesiology, Trigger point work, Acupressure, Salt Glows, Paraffin Wax Treatments, Hydrotherapy, Cardio respiratory exercise, and Meditation. When the program is completed, students will be prepared for a career working in rehabilitation clinics, fitness centers, medical offices, hospital departments, chiropractic offices, salons, and integrative medical centers.
