The Blue Cliff College takes it name from an ancient Zen text of the same name in which the inspiring dialogue between teachers and students are recorded.  Founded in 1981, the school has several locations, including Alexandria, Houma, Lafayette, Metairie, and Shreveport, Louisiana; Gulfport, Mississippi; and Fayetteville, Arkansas.  Blue Cliff College offers comprehensive programs in Cosmetology, Esthetics, and Massage Therapy.

The Cosmetology program at Blue Cliff College blends the art and science of cosmetology into a hands-on curriculum and gives students a solid foundation on which to grow.  The program consists of 1500 hours of prime education in all aspects of hair care, skin care, and nail care.  When they are finished, students will be fully qualified to work in many different settings including spas, salons, nail salons, or as a platform or makeup artist, a cosmetic representative, and more.

The Esthetics program offer 780 hours of education that will ensure that students acquire experience and knowledge in all aspects of skin care and that they are well versed in working with the public, safety and sanitary considerations, and ethical responsibilities.  Once the program is complete, graduates will be able to work in spas, salons, cruise ships, resorts, and more.

The Massage Therapy program offers two paths: comprehensive training that leads to a diploma in Massage Therapy or an Associate Occupational Studies Degree in Massage Therapy. Students will gain a strong foundational knowledge in human anatomy and will learn the basics of Shiatsu, Swedish massage, deep tissue massage, sports massage, and more.  Graduates are prepared for work in entry level positions in a variety of massage therapy settings, including in hospitals, sports clinics, athletic clubs, spas, physical therapists’ offices, and more.

It is the goal of the staff and faculty at Blue Cliff College to inspire their students to go beyond average and to excel on both an academic and personal level.  With the most up-to-date facilities and curriculum, students will have a great experience and will be able to move into their field with confidence and the skills to match.
